First of May, the day
of protest and coming the working class to the fore in the face of capitalist
oppressive world, the day of making decision to change the society by working
class and to put an end to oppression, injustice, discrimination, war, murder,
unemployment and poverty. The workers are commemorating the first of May this
year whilst the capitalist world is involved in a grave economic crisis and the
rulers are planning to wage war and disruption and launch attack on the
livelihood of the people and the coming generations. They tell us that the banks
are bankrupt and the country’s economy is in crisis therefore you the workers
should tolerate it and should not ask for a pay rise. They tell us be patient
and keep your children waiting for years with out medicine, education and
poverty until blood goes through the veins of capital and the means of
productions. They tell us do not disturb the streets in order the capitalists
and bankers could defeat their rivals and open all the doors for national
capitalists and company owners. In Kurdistan, the Kurdish authorities are
telling us that federalism and their representation in the central government is
an achievement and we should not ask for a free living and free system. They
say: we have budget, Peshmarga, and Kurd Land issues and our nation and
experiment is at risk of the neighboring countries’ plans, so stand by the
government and parliament and tolerate unemployment, poverty, inflation, killing
of women, and lack of services.
The workers of
Kurdistan are commemorating the first of May in a circumstance, which the
bourgeois nationalist parties and militia authorities have spent more than half
of the Ba’ath party’s lifetime with weaponries and Kurdish nationalism illusion.
In the mean time they have divided Kurdistan and have allotted people of
Kurdistan the civil war, hunger and unemployment. The parliament, government and
a law, which they cast it in our teeth with pride in the name of the nation, and
Kurdish nationalism just to fill up their pockets, plunder and establish a
paranoiac livelihood for themselves, the rich and their followers. Even when
these political parties talking about the hardship and suffering of people of
Kurdistan in the past, i.e. when they are turning pages of Anfal crimes, mass
graves, chemical bombardment, executions, imprisonment, and Ba’ath Party’s
oppression in which only the people were victimized, it is for their pocket and
to shackle the masses by Kurdish nationalism illusion. Whilst after 18 years in
power and in the possession of billions of dollars but still traces of misery
and hardship could be seen in faces and appearance of the remaining family
members and relatives of the victims.
The parliament and
government of these political parties have got a law for the police and security
forces, they do have a law for mullahs and religious affairs and investments.
But they do not have a law to make the livelihood of people better in the
matters of rent, wages of hard-working people and the working class. They talk
about free market and capital and foreign companies’ investment but for women of
Kurdistan they bring polygamy and superiority of Sharia and male dominated
culture. The parliament members of these political parties earn 7 ˝ million
Iraqi Dinar whilst workers’ wage does not exceed 300 to 400 thousand Iraqi
Dinar. Under these political parties’ rule killing and self-slaughter
(self-burning) of thousands of women are becoming popular in the society and the
youth are fleeing for a better prospective life. They, who are in power at the
expense of the suffering and hardship of the people. They have converted to a
corrupt and parasitic class from nothing and publicly engaged in filling their
pockets, building villas and boosting their bank balance whilst the people are
struggling with poverty, lack of water and power supply and expired food and
rations which are appropriate for animals not human being. If the people
protested against all these conditions, if a journalist criticized the
corruption and inequality, if a hard-working worker demanded pay rise and
better work and life condition or if a woman cried in the face other slavery or
if a political party demanded independence and secularism in return they
resorted to attack, imprisonment, court and security forces. In the best cases
the person would be accused of being a Ba’athist (Ba’ath Party member), trouble
maker or keeping distance from the holy culture of Kurdish nationalism. Beside
all the hardship, misery and political perplexity and Kurdish nationalist
parties rule, it is the workers of Kurdistan who are in a grave work condition,
low pay, inflation, unemployment, lack of a labour law and lack of recognized
freedom of strike and organization and yet they have been dragged to a social
production and kept in a grave harsh condition that the working class should set
a limit to it.
Comrade workers, hard-working men and women, If our response to all these
conditions and circumstances is a better livelihood and work conditions, if we
are calling for a pay rise and social security, if we call for an advanced and
human Labour Law for the working-class, if we demand freedom of strike an
organization to be recognized, and if we call for tens of our legitimate demands
in this May day from Kurdish bourgeois authorities. But all of these are not
enough and it is not feasible that our working-class as a force, which has a
claim on an authority that spent its lifetime and has shown us, a bitter
experience, to wait and do nothing. Therefore, the working-class movement and
its leadership should come to the fore this May Day to take up the reins of
society and put an end to the perplexity of Kurdish rule. We have to take hold
of the aim of excluding the Kurdish nationalism and its government through
liberating the society and livelihood of people of Kurdistan from the current
miserable conditions.
The Kurdish nationalism and its political parties had their own try and 18 years
is ample for us to determine that the parliament, government and the law of
these political parties are against the interest of the working-class and hard
working people of Kurdistan, 18 years is enough and ruling over these
excellencies will be our historic duty, i.e. the duty of liberating the society
from oppression, injustice, perplexity, and poverty. The Kurdistan society is in
need of the workers and millions of honorable and freedom loving people to come
to the fore to establish a free, equal, welfare, and human society.
The Worker-communist Party of Kurdistan is a trench of struggle and a tool to
liberate the society from the bourgeois and its system. Therefore, come on and
let’s take hold of the party and get together for a decent human future.
Long live May Day, the international day of working lass, and
victory for workers’ social revolution.
